Caribbean Beauty

John hadn't visited the Caribbean  in a few years so when he did he was reassured that its beauty never really fades from memory. This is what he had to say:

This winter I returned to the Caribbean , spending time in Saint Lucia at the spectacular Sugar Beach, A Viceroy Resort, Sugar Beach is tucked between the iconic UNESCO World Heritage Pitons.

The trip began with a dramatic 20‑hour tropical storm - not quite the postcard skies I’d imagined  however even under heavy clouds the island was warm, lush and utterly breathtaking.

The Caribbean may not be celebrated for ancient history or Roman ruins but what it lacks in old stones it more than makes up for with natural splendour. Its vibrant landscapes, pristine beaches and wonderfully relaxed rhythm of life are what keep drawing people back.

I was also lucky enough to take a pre‑Christmas cruise through the Caribbean and Miami - a first for me. It was a journey filled with warm seas, bright days and a handful of islands that quickly became favourites. Tortola in the British Virgin Islands charmed me instantly, Bequia in St Vincent and the Grenadines was a delight and Antigua remains my number one.  Anguilla closely follows.

For those planning a trip, the ABC islands - Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao - are great almost year‑round. If you’re heading further north in the region however and are chasing perfect weather, it’s wise to avoid August, September and October.

Do pop and see me or give me a ring if you want to chat abut any of these fabulous islands.
