Jane's adult only escape to Rhodes
Carrying on down the road from my first stop in Rhodes, I wandered into Ixia - a laid‑back coastal stretch just west of Rhodes Town - and checked in at the Grand Ixian Hotel, an adults‑only, all‑inclusive that turned out to be one of the most relaxing bases for exploring this part of the island.
A Grown‑Up Escape by the Sea
The Grand Ixian delivers exactly what you want from an 18+ resort: calm spaces, a polished atmosphere and a sense that everything is designed for unwinding rather than entertaining families. It sits right on Ixia Beach, a long stretch of pebbly shoreline with big Aegean skies and some of the best sunsets on the island.
The hotel itself is modern, friendly and well‑run. The staff genuinely elevate the experience - warm, attentive and are always ready with local tips. A few small tweaks could make it exceptional but as it stands, it’s already a strong contender in the all‑inclusive market.
What Makes the Grand Ixian Stand Out
Adults‑only setting - peaceful, quiet, and ideal for couples or friends
Private beachfront with loungers and waiter service
Swim‑up suites and private‑pool rooms for that extra splash of luxury
Multiple restaurants serving Greek, Mediterranean, Asian and a genuinely impressive buffet
Spa, pools, fitness centre and those signature Aegean sunsets
Just 6 km from Rhodes Old Town and around 10 minutes from the airport
Popular Room Types
Deluxe Sea View Rooms - bright, modern and perfect for couples
Premium Swim‑Up Rooms - step straight from your terrace into the pool
Grand Suites with Private Pools - ideal for privacy lovers
Beachfront Rooftop Pool Suites - the showstoppers
Evenings are relaxed rather than rowdy - think live music, mellow entertainment and a cocktail under the stars. It’s a resort that leans into serenity rather than spectacle.
Exploring Beyond the Hotel
One of the perks of staying here is how easy it is to explore the island. The hotel offers local excursions, including day trips to Lindos, boat tours and recommendations for some incredible fish tavernas along the coast.
And of course, you’re only minutes from Rhodes Town - which is exactly where I headed for an early‑evening wander.
A Taste of Rhodes Town
Rhodes Town sits on the northeastern tip of the island, and it’s one of those rare places where 2,400 years of history blend seamlessly with modern life. The UNESCO‑listed Medieval Old Town is a maze of stone walls, hidden courtyards, Ottoman touches, and Crusader‑era architecture. Step outside the walls and you’re in a lively, cosmopolitan city filled with cafés, boutiques, beaches, and waterfront restaurants.
It’s the kind of place where you can spend the afternoon exploring ancient streets and the evening sipping wine by the harbour - a perfect pairing with a stay in Ixia.
