Elounda Gulf Villas is only a 1 hour transfer from Heraklion Airport – I was lucky enough to stay in a 3 bedroom villa with a private pool ( Plaka) in October. The Villas are spacious, some with their own sauna and small gym so great if you're into fitness. The grounds are easy to follow, a lovely restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner – many months of the year there is a free half board offer (not July and August). There is also a private dining restaurant offering some of the best food I have tasted in Greece. A free kids club offering a varied programme , cooking , beach , horse riding– although when I visited the kids club wasn’t in operation as there was no children – only a few infants around (crèche 30 euros per day).
There is a small mini market and café 5 mins from the hotel so during the busy months you can get some supplies for your villa – although in advance you can send a shopping list and this would be all unpacked for you in your villa.
The lead in deluxe suites doesn’t have a pool but it is very close to the main pool and also has some beautiful sea views. I saw many of the villas and each one had their own signature style, all different from each other but all with the most amazing views of Elounda. The hotel also has its own beach club, offering water sports, lunch or just an area to chill out (look out for the pink flamingo). You can also take a boat trip to the Island of Spinalonga - enjoy a walk, take some scenic photos and if you are on the right boat you may be able to stop on the way back for a swim!
This hotel is a must , it is owned and run by Anna and her 2 daughters , they welcome you into their property as it was their home , the staff were relaxed , happy and always at your service without being in your face. Nothing is too much trouble – you ask them and they will sort it. In the evenings they have local dancers , barbecue nights , wine tasting and more! A great all all-rounder hotel, ideal for couples, small groups and families too.
Definitely one of the best hotels that Elounda as to offer and well worth a stay.
