The Delights of the Cotswolds...

I was invited to a friend’s Birthday in the Cotswold’s and so I decided to use the excuse to see a fabulous hotel in a beautiful location.Just over 2 hours from London and I arrived in the beautiful Broadway at the Lygon Arms. The hotel has kept its 600 year history intact , with some original fire places and windows , the roaring log fires that kept us warm and the abundance of staff at hand to take your order from a coffee to a glass of champagne.Dogs and kids are very welcome and a lovely ...

Marseille

You know that if you say South of France, everyone immediately thinks of Nice, San Tropez , Monaco and Cannes. But the South is so much more, with Villefranche, Sete, and of course Marseille. Marseille is a delight, it's the second largest City in France, but seems so different from the first. It's amber stone reflects the sun, as the mediterranean sea laps its shores. The harbour is magnificent, and has a vibrant atmosphere 24/7. Boats sail in and out of you harbour delivering fresh fish f...

So, October took me to Budapest. It took just under 3 hours from London and a 25 min transfer in a taxi to the centre.I stayed in the Millennium Court executive apartments as there was 4 of us and we wanted to have a small living area and kitchen ( if only to keep the wine chilled).Budapest is split between the river Danube - Buda on one side with many of the historical places such as the castle , fisherman’s bastion , grand bazaar , pest offers parliament, St Stephen’s Basilica, Heroes Squ...

Crete

I've been to Crete twice before in this area . I will not say that the 2 previous hotels were not nice or their views not amazing etc but what I will say is this . The Elounda Beach villas is one of those hotels that oozes peace , calm and tranquility. For me it is an hotel / resort that you need to experience for yourself to appreciate it . The beach is beautiful , clear waters allowing you to see your nail varnish on your toes , the staff always smiling , sincere smiles of happiness . The food...

Malta

So, at the end of April, I took to the skies again and headed to Malta. All the chat of busy airports, check in early scared me too so I paid for Fastrack at Gatwick North ( EasyJet) it was a breeze, I even treated myself to the EasyJet gateway lounge which was a lovely start to my trip .  Having not been to Malta and knowing there are many different areas I listened to my companions – we wanted to be near bars and restaurants , a small beach and accessible to Valletta. We also wanted a 2...

Helsinki

In between Christmas and New Year, I went to Helsinki, Finland’s delightful capital.  Surrounded by water and islands, this city, is a little like Paris and a bit like Copenhagen, and has the friendliest people I have come across in a long time. The restaurants are magnificent, and I was very lucky to have a deep blue winter sky, where the sun shone all day, albeit very low in the sky. It was -9 but no snow. It’s a three hour flight, across the Baltic, parts of which were frozen, and it...

The delights of Lymington and the Isle or Wight

A few weekends ago, I had booked off some time, and decided to stay in England. What a weekend I picked, not a cloud in the sky warm days, and a lovely seaside town to enjoy.I took the car, but it’s just as easy by train, and I spent three nights in Lymington , on the edge of the New Forest. Such a lovely place. The trees were just starting to turn, and that lovely autumn light made everything look delightful. Every evening I took the train from Lymington Pier to Lymington Town, which took exa...

Dubrovnik

With my A,B,C Holidays once again rearing its head with my two best girlfriends and being two years behind schedule we decided that for “D” we would head to Dubrovnik, not because we are massive game of thrones fans either (although I am). My first ever visit to the lovely country of Croatia and WOW it was not a disappointment. Just a 2.35 hour plane journey and a 30 mins transfer from the airport to my hotel - https://www.adriaticluxuryhote...I was lucky enough to have the pleasure to ...

Anguilla

Oh my! What can I say about this recent trip?  Firstly some of the pictures are not great, my camera broke, so half are with camera and half with iphone, no offence to the iphone. These are all from the lovely Island of Anguilla. I took a trip there last month, for five beautiful days, with beautiful people and amazing food. The island is flat, like a pancake, unlike its neighbours St Maarten and Antigua. It’s British of course, and its famous for the shortest battle ever fought, according...

Oh Là Là France

On our recent trip to France we took these beautiful photos in Bordeaux, Lyon, Avignon, Arles, Nice, Marseille, Carcassonne and Toulouse.  The pictures are a mix of the sights, from the people, the art, the rivers and the transport rather than just the castles and cathedrals. We hope you like them! For more information about our this trip or any other destination, please contact John on 0207 485 4471...

Anguilla and Antigua

When I told people I was going to Anguillla, everyone said, ooohhh where’s that? Except my Mum who said that sounds dangerous. Anguilla, is in the Caribbean , very close to the Dutch/French island of St Maarten . when you come close to it, from the air, you can see how flat it is. Most Caribbean islands have mountains and rain forests, but Anguillla does not. The capitol is called The Valley, and is a small busy little town, the thing about Anguilla is…..it’s the people, the people ar...

Eagle’s Palace Villa Halkidiki 2019

I was lucky enough to be invited on this small luxury agent’s trip to see and stay in the Eagles Palace Villas in Halkidiki. 3 hours from London – nice and early start with Easyjet from London Gatwick but sadly a 1.40 minute transfer but once you arrive at the hotel ,WOW –a backdrop of azure sea and beautiful green trees with an abundance of flora and fauna everywhere and to top it all the famous Mount Athos. The Villas are relatively new and each have their own pool (all be it a bit bigger...

The wonders of Andalucia...

Our windows last month celebrated the wonders of Andalucia. With pictures from Seville Cordoba and Granada, I hope you can see the magnificence of the architecture, its past and present sights and the beauty of this region. Well worth avoiding in the summer months, where temperatures can reach 40c, they are perfect for Spring early summer, and autumn. January is lovely too with mild days and cold nights. Wonderful Spanish wine, tapas bars, and flamenco. With several local airports, and fantastic...

A Tale of Two Mountains and Two Cities....

Mountains are pretty stunning, that cannot be denied. The pictures here, are of different mountains both linked to major Cities.  Salt Lake City , in Utah, famous for its Lake, and The Mormons who founded it, and the amazing Tabernacle Choir, is surrounded by , these lovely mountains.  Park City, has a short autumn, and heavy winter snow fall, making it a major, and pretty expensive ski resort. In the summer, the hotels are filled with families and hikers. The resort is also the host o...

On a recent trip to Brugge, these are some of the pictures. It was a beautiful autumn day, as you can see from the trees and the sky. It was a trip, from one train to another, very comfortable, and very easy. Brugge is a lovely town, walk everywhere, great places to eat, and shop despite the exchange rate. A real must for a short break. We can arrange this for you…..and a super hotel.Contact John on 0207 485 4471...

Seattle

A recent trip took me to the city of Seattle in the US state of Washington.  Such a great place, it's a little bit San Francisco and a little bit Camden Town.  These photos don't do it justice.  I was lucky enough to do a trip around the city in a sea plane, and some of the photos are from there...surrounded by beautiful islands, all easily visited by ferry and the cruise ships to Alaska.  This is a very special city, you will notice the reference to GUM.  There is a wal...

Elounda Gulf Villas, Crete.

Elounda Gulf Villas is only a 1 hour transfer from Heraklion Airport – I was lucky enough to stay in a 3 bedroom villa with a private pool ( Plaka) in October. The Villas are spacious, some with their own sauna and small gym so great if you're into fitness. The grounds are easy to follow, a lovely restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner – many months of the year there is a free half board offer (not July and August). There is also a private dining restaurant offering some of the b...

Vive La France

Our September window featured pictures from two lovely towns in France.  Sete, an attractive maritime town referred to by the locals as the Venice of Languedoc and Avignon, a city in southeastern France’s Provence region, set on the Rhône River.  Sete, was a delightful place, quite unexpected, on a day trip from a short cruise it was market day and the town was a buzz of people. Avignon was as expected, stunning, the countryside was amazing, and the smell of lavender, pure Prov...

Beautiful Greece

Beautiful Greece . What’s not to like? The white-washed houses, turquoise waters as far as the eye can see, romantic sunsets, mediterranean flavours and mythological references. This is the idea most of us have of the Greek Islands - no wonder they are considered the most popular sea destination in Europe! On our recent trip to Greece we took some photos to reflect the different sides it has to offer, from the modern museum near the Acropolis in Athens, the delights of Corfu Har...

Puerto Vallarta – Mexico

So after many years I have gone on a proper package to this lovely place full of adventure, big hotels, long stretches of beach and a variety of excellent excursions. Now Puerto Vallarta is on the Pacific Ocean side of Mexico so compared to Cancun the sea is dark and extra wavy! It was a 12 hour journey from London but only 9.5 hours on the return and I travelled on my first dream liner. The flight was excellent 2 good meals, drinks, plenty to watch and the space on board was magnificent (I coul...

Stunning Seville

One of Europe’s most stunning cities….well worth a visit.Seville is located in the South of Spain. Famous for its architecture and tourist attractions, the climate differs depending on the time of year - our last visit to Seville was in October 2017 and the temperature was a staggering 35c! However, its Mediterranean climate produces high temperatures in summer with the cooler months occurring in winter.  The trouble with Seville, is that everywhere you look you see beauty.  F...
